MSc Drilling and Well Engineering
Aimed at developing engineers to become drilling engineers and to develop the skills of those who may already be practicing drilling engineers. Student of this course will study key areas including well design, drilling and operations management. This course provides both practical and academic skills to enhance future career options.
Fully accredited by the Energy Institute, student of this course will benefit from the use of the university DART facility (Dynamic Advance Response Training), this state-of-the-art learning environment uses 3D graphics to represent a rig floor and the wide range of equipment and drilling processes currently used by the oil and gas industry.
MSc Oil and Gas Engineering
Developed in collaboration with industry, this course follows guidelines set out by the Energy Institute ensuring specialist subject areas covered are up to date and provides students with the knowledge and skills needed for an engineering career within the upstream oil and gas industry.
Scientific and mathematical skills obtained through experience or from a first degree will be developed throughout and students will apply scientific, engineering and management skills to study key areas of oil and gas engineering.
MSc Petroleum Production Engineering
Supported by experienced industry professionals with a focus on authentic industry application, current technical standards and leading-edge engineering practices, providing full accreditation by the Energy Institute (EI).
Students will gain the skills and knowledge needed to select equipment, optimise design and performance of production wells and manage field and well production operations, whether on land, offshore or subsea.
Students will also gain valuable management skills needed when working in a multidisciplinary team on complex projects such as field development, field enhancement and well rehabilitation.
Students who are given an offer this course will require an ATAS clearance certificate before they can apply for a visa.
MSc Solar Energy Systems
This is the first and only course of its kind in the UK focusing on solar as a renewable energy in postgraduate study. The course aims to help students develop an in-depth understanding of the theory and practice, along with professional and research skills necessary to characterise, design and manage solar energy systems.
